The Conservatory built stream boxes that continuously collect data and act as a node for public engagement. These devices do not record audio but rather transmit high quality audio perpetually to the internet as a real-time stream and participate in a global network of ecological recordings. These enable anyone to listen in to the Virginia Coast. Locusonus is our node in the global network that allows anyone to listen to the world. A computer at the Conservatory Lab meanwhile records the streaming audio, collecting it into large audio files and archiving them for analysis.
